Excellent!!!

I just wrote my first C++app, albeit for windows (the only pc at home atm) but I can now change celcius to farenheit :P
AND say hello world

£90000 salary here I come!

Go for C not C++, its much easier and can do pretty much the exact same things

Definatly go for C. It does do pretty much the same stuff... okay, it's just a little bit slower than C++ but the difference is practically unnoticable. Plus, many other languages are based on C, so it's more worth your time.

you should start of with C programming. This will give you a solid foundation in structured programming. The next step is to learn Object Oriented programming. For that Java is better than C++. C++ is a hash. They took C and added object oriented features to it. Java is much more elegant. Trust me.
