It doesn't cost any money (that was always true). It is not FOSS though.

You used to have to pay for it... at least for the full version. The free version had the commercials attachted to it.

I'm wondering what happened on all those cases where users actually paid for a license just a few days before it went free?
Did they get a refund, or were they given something else of value, or were they just out of luck?
I have a current paid for license, but haven't used opera much for about 3 years, now.
