pure dismay at wmp
i was at a school concert today and they had a radio station setup there.
i was in dismay when i saw that they were running (they were running windows, but thats not the point) WMP! (windows media player).
i personally am offended when i see someone using WMP. I was offended before i started out with linux.
of all the media players out there (winamp, itunes, VLC, foobar, mplayer, etc.) for windows, why would you use WMP?
as far as i know, they were just playing audio cd's.
i also (one time) forced my cousin off WMP and onto winamp. he didnt like it so i gave him itunes. He uses that now. I just cannot stand anybody using WMP.
talking about aggrevation

personally, im guessing this post will be locked by mods in the first day.
please have your say on this. Maybe i am going insane, or maybe im just logical.

My radio station streams Mp3 from ShoutCast and folks who use WMP say they can't listen! We have a link to WinAmp so they can download the free player and listen to our stream. I refuse to stream with anything else other than Linux. Our encoder is Slackware 10.1 and our Host's server is Fedora Core.
WMP is like IE. If they don't have a blue 'E' on the desktop, most users will believe they cannot go on the Internet...

wah. the way i see it for playing music for an even as you described there is no reason why winamp is better than wmp or any other media player. get over it. i use wmp at work for playing media files but totem and xine at home. so does that make me stupid! certainly not its thier choice to use it. they both do the same thing and in my opinion for what they were using it for both winamp and wmp do that job equally. now streaming is another issue winamp does a better job. wmp does a better job playing videos. people use whats convenient and efficient. think it is about time moe locks this thread

I haven't used wmp since in about 7 years or so but if I used windows I would still use mplayer it can play anything I think so far it is the best piece of software i've seen (maybe besides the gimp) that is for linux and also for windows.
I have a quick funny story about the big E icons and not thinking you can get on the internet without it. I finally turned my dad onto firefox about a year ago. He is a computer teacher at an elementary school. So he decided he wanted to use firefox there. But the kids and teachers only know IE. So he just used the big E but linked it to firefox instead so everyone is secretly using firefox when they click on the E. Just thought this was funny. All right, brain. You don't like me and I don't like you, but let's just do this and I can get back to killing you with beer. All New Users Read This!!! If you have a grub problem please look at GRUB MANUAL
