    Smile Portable Firefox 1.5

Now that school has started again I decided to try out Firefox Portable 1.5 which was recommended to me by Cabhan a while back. I have to admit, that it is quite nice. Its a little slow to start up, but it's nice to be able to keep all you settings, without them clearing everytime you log off the school computers.

Here is a link to Get Firefox Portable, if anyone else is intersted.

    It is a nice program.

Sadly, at my college they have changed the security settings on the library computers so I can't start any program that is on my usb drive. They do have firefox installed already, but now I don't have my bookmarks

Yeah, I grabbed it a little bit ago because my high school uses IE. I find it nice, especially since we're only allowed 30MB on our accounts, so this way, I can have Firefox and still have room for anything I might do in school.

If you are really feeling ambitious, then you could grab a copy of Knoppix, boot it on the library computers, configure everything, mount your usb drive, and finally enjoy your bookmarks in linux, on firefox. Of course this method is a little bit of an overkill for a set of bookmarks

If I were in your shoes I would make a list of all my bookmarks
    put them into an e-mail
send it to your web-based e-mail
access web-based e-mail from new location
    access bookmarks, open in tabs

for some reason i rarely use bookmarks, i just remember the websites. i might give that a try. it won't run from USB but if i copy the .exe files from the USB drive to the computer, then it should be ok (computers allow .exe files to run for programming purposes).
Here's why Linux is easier than Windows:
Package Managers! Apt-Get and Portage (among others) allow users to install programs MUCH easier than Windows can.
Hardware Drivers. In SuSE, ALL the hardware is detected and installed automatically! How is this harder than Windows' constant disc changing and rebooting?
