I also disagree with your statement, as i prefer the text based one to the GUI, eventhough the graphics are nice, and it is arraged well.
As for Fedora Java. Well, i installed Sun's JDK 1.5 not to long ago, and that works very well. As for native eclipse. yuck! I have to agree with techimoe on this one. It is pretty unstable, and does not offer all the options that the normal version has. I think i will install the normal version from eclipse, until the native one is a little better.
I personaly like fedora core overall. As a newbie going into linux, i choose Fedora because I liked the simplicity of the GNOME desktop, and i have found it to be pretty stable so far, but i am not a power user, that requires advanced programs that can reveal instabilities. You should give it a try, and use it if you like.

Ok, rather then starting a flame war about yum, I will simply say that it is a matter of opinion. Some people like yum, and some don't. Just remeber that linux is about choosing
