Xandros won me the first time, but I was stewing about waiting for 4.0 or buying a fanciefied printer that would run....I have ZERO problems getting any and all printers to work with Xandros...I donate them...as long as they are "older"....wellll Lexmark doesn't work much....but I was stewing around.....

Well, WallyWorld had the above thing on sale for $99 and a kid that worked there said his roomie had it and ran it with Fedora(he thought that was it)...so the better half said go for it....

one click download for driver for the scanner, I did it first, just to see...I was that eager....from the Brother site...and It just scanned.....when I pushed the button...Xandros scanner program came up with the thing I scanned....the printer drivers WOULD have been two clicks and two commands in the console, which they provided, but....in my eagerness I clicked the same button twice!

posted the printout at the forum and they all had a BIG laugh on that one....and haven't looked back since.

The Brother site has Linux support for ALL the distros....for ALL the printers scanners, individual, combined, you name it....

I HIGHLY recommend Brother stuff....I e-mailed the boss man himself....

Anyone else have any experience with Brother? come back....

    ain't xandros great!

I just bought Xandros 3.0 Standard edition and with rebate it will be free, so i figured I had nothing to lose. I have a Brother MFC 5440CN printer/scanner/fax. I have not got around to installing Xandros yet, but will I be able to get this printer working without too many command line forays? I am looking to avoid command line all I can. I have 2 desktops pc and one laptop. one pc nad the laptop are using wireless, how is Xandros on wireless? I am a linux noob, I have played around with many livecd distros but have not installed any to HD yet. Any help you can give me to get Xan up and running will be great. I am wanting to get my wife and daughter of the windows and Xan looks to be a good way to do it. I have seen you over at the Xandros forum as I was just browsing. Thanks.

I think I should close this thread, I mean, I like Xandros and all and appreciate the fact that you support it, but this is going to turn into some Flame War...
