new xandros fan site
Hi folks,
I'm new here but if you go to forums Xandros very much, I post there a lot. Since you had a nice Deb thread, I thought you might like to hear that i've started a Xandros fan site. It has some games which are "tweaked" for Xandros, some "different" eye candy, an article,(we'll have more, this was just to do something different) and Hispanic translation....
I don't want folks here to think I'm spamming, we get it at forums Xandros also, but thought there might be someone who might be interested in looking the site over....and maybe try out a new distro...I'm a fan!
And to the admin....if this is any way considered by the folks to be a spam...please delete it....
here's the link....
http://www.agilepros.com/xandrosfun/Home.htm
and I'll toodle back by....heard about you folks over at ArchLug...
you have a very nice site...

nope, not a spam....:)
Hi folks,
sorry I haven't been back sooner, but new semester at the j/c and a new job...training....daughter getting married.....
Thanks for putting up the thread....I promise to be back regularly....
This really is a well designed site....once I figured out the relationship between the little buttons, and the words top right. etc.
Things have been humming over at the forums....a lot of buzz about 4.0 coming out...quite a few new folks showing up having just installed Xandros...with questions....the old galatains were wondering where all the folks were for "after Christmas"...but they've started showing up later....
There's a lot of discussion about "add ons" as it were...since Xandros just works...no kiddin...whether, open circulation edition or whatever....the questions are usually things about getting a "better audio player" getting a "Better" paint program...and all of it free from Xandros Networks...
I spent the last 7 months getting up to speed on Linux in general, Xandros in particular(that is in terms of USE....not going out in the wild to download the latest dependency...)...and am doing my first installs of stuff from "out on the net".....and the neat thing is that I REALLY don't have to worry about breaking the distro....now, the package might not install, and Xandros tells me why....but the distro stays rock solid...
I finally, about two weeks ago became a "premium member" which means I kicked in thirty nine bucks and now get access to one click downloads of OO 2.0...instead of having to go through the rather largish set of instructions in the forum....yes.....you can do it for free....but, with my schedule I just need to get on with things....
think I'll quit for a while and look around...
ain't xandros great!

Brother printer/scanner multifunction
Hi,
The thing that made me windoze free was the Brother 420CN MFC multifunction scanner/printer/fax, memory card reader....everything but a coffee maker...
Xandros won me the first time, but I was stewing about waiting for 4.0 or buying a fanciefied printer that would run....I have ZERO problems getting any and all printers to work with Xandros...I donate them...as long as they are "older"....wellll Lexmark doesn't work much....but I was stewing around.....
Well, WallyWorld had the above thing on sale for $99 and a kid that worked there said his roomie had it and ran it with Fedora(he thought that was it)...so the better half said go for it....
one click download for driver for the scanner, I did it first, just to see...I was that eager....from the Brother site...and It just scanned.....when I pushed the button...Xandros scanner program came up with the thing I scanned....the printer drivers WOULD have been two clicks and two commands in the console, which they provided, but....in my eagerness I clicked the same button twice!
posted the printout at the forum and they all had a BIG laugh on that one....and haven't looked back since.
The Brother site has Linux support for ALL the distros....for ALL the printers scanners, individual, combined, you name it....
I HIGHLY recommend Brother stuff....I e-mailed the boss man himself....
Anyone else have any experience with Brother? come back....
ain't xandros great!

Nice Xandros site... I love Xandros myself, it's just a little too proprietary for my personal tastes however. It detects hardware beautifully. If only SUSE could perform the same way...

late replies...and thanks
Hi folks....sorry I didn't even SEE all these replies.
new semester starting, new second job...daughter getting married....
any way:
This kwiki at Archlug, give a STEP by STEP how to on the Brother MFC install...go down to the third big frame toward the bottom and you will see Xandros Brother.....you will, of course, then have to go to the Brother site....if you go to the front page of the Kwiki, you can then click back through to other distros.....he has a LOT....and the same type of instructions, as provided by him an others for the other distros....
http://www.archlug.org/kwiki/XandrosKwikis
As to it being pricey.....I have used, and still use the Open Circulation Editon...3.0.2....the ONLY reason I paid the premium membership is convenience...and gratitude....after I got the brother running...and I wanted OO 2.0....I just don't have the time, right now, to go through all the commands to get the free version downloaded.....
But, Xandros does give me the slack time to begin to make little steps and that is what my site is about....giveing folks who are wanting to be Windoze free some little steps that way...
My boy, the astronomer, uses an astronomer's linux, all very arcane....but when I showed him Xandros Networks, one click downloads, he actually got kind of wistful....of course he can type apt-get stuff like it's going out of style....but he did allow that it is convenient....
And, because of this site, and my experience with Xandros I'm probably going to try Atomic Linux for the multimedia...

Sorry, have to say this. I didnt know enough people liked Xandros to make another fan site!
And you really arent supposed to advertise, makes it quite dodgy when you have only 9 posts.
