It's been about a year since I've tried it, but yes, Vector is nice.

Vector is pretty good. What DE are you using?

Yeah I just installed vector on my other spare partition and so far i'm pretty impressed. i don't like that they use lilo as the boot loader because that made me have to screw around with my other grub files and placement of my kernels but the xfce4 that comes standard is really slick looking. I haven't messed around with it too much but I'm hoping the slapt-get is comparible to pacman on arch because I really like that package manager.
All right, brain. You don't like me and I don't like you, but let's just do this and I can get back to killing you with beer. All New Users Read This!!! If you have a grub problem please look at GRUB MANUAL

I've had bad experience with Vector. Has the development team at least gotten their act together enough to fix the USB keyboard issue?

In my opinion, Slapt-get isn't nearly up to speed when compared to Pacman. It's just slower, it feels clumsier, and it's generally more work trying to use it.

IceWM, I like how it looks and it runs fast. I might try out fluxbox too, except in my opinion it doesn't look nearly as good.

Yeah, I like the IceWM implementation in Vector too. Vector has an E17 slapt-get repo too if you want to try that.

I found slapt-get to be very slow. It took ages to get E17...I can't remember if I let it finish or not. That said, pacman is slow at updating the database. Package download in pacman is blazing fast though!

I haven't found it to be slow at all. In fact I just did a refresh and it took only 3 or 4 seconds from start to finish.

Maybe you need to reorder your mirror listing, or something. Mine used to run a bit slow but once I removed all the ibiblio mirrors things started going really fast.

Sorry, oosterhouse... didn't mean to steal your thread with this.
