Question What was your 1st OS

Just wondering what was the first operating system that you used? I hope that this poll will encompass most of the operating systems that people used. i researched quickly, and i found that there are very many when you look back in time. you can see an interesting article here http://www.osdata.com/kind/history.htm

The first computer i ever used was an old machintosh (i think it was called something like quardra 610) and it ran some old version of machintosh. It had a ful GUI, so i never got to experience a text based environment until i tried linux not too long ago.

Actually, AmigaOS was my first but it wasn't on the list so I said Windows, which
was actually my second.

I'm pretty sure my first OS was some sort of DOS, not sure if it was the real MS-DOS. My first computer was a TRS-80, which came with an 8088.

My first OS was Windows 95, i never used a full text based enviroment but i actually always liked the command prompt for some reason but it was so dodgy in windows especially 95, so when i got linux you can image my happiness =)

Question about the post below me: what is windows 97? do you mean 98 because ive never heard of win97

Windows 95 which I eventually had upgraded to Windows 97 to get onto the Internet. The machine did not last long after that, because I was not aware of all of the hazards of going on line with a computer using Windows.

whats amiga OS, it seems like a few people used it. according to the article that i found it came out in the 80's. I a wasn't even born then! I am surprised as to how much computer stuff was going before the 90's. For me thats when it feels like it all started.

I said Windoze, but that's not strictly true, my first system was an Amstrad which ran BASIC, simple insert a disk and type run sort of thing. However I wrote my own UI/DE for it in basic - with no mouse the whole thing ran off keyboard shortcuts, and a few mods to all the programs ensured I could get back to the Home Screen (as I called it at the time) - and used one of the floppy drives as a Hard drive to run this and any commonly used programs from. So I guess you could say my first OS was a home brew affair, although Windoze was the first OS I used that anyone else had heard of.
