I BEG TO DIFFER... on any distro, excluding stuff like Slackware, KDE and GNOME always look MUCH more original and attractive than Windows... I don't know where you came to this conclusion... c'mon, even Blackbox is more attractive than Windows...
2.Mozilla firefox and Open office takes more time compared to corresponding softwares in Windows(mine is Amd64 with AsusK8S motherboard)..i don know whether it's because of
my architecture...but generally in many systems i saw open office taking so much of time to open..
These are well-known problems which I believe the community will fix all in time. OpenOffice is notorious for this. The problem has become major enough that they have begun seriously addressing it for the next major release. And for some reason Firefox just seems prone to "memory leak" problems, although they have begun to claim that their "fastback" feature takes much time to load.
4.When we install some softwares from net like MPlayers,etc...sometimes we find that some libraries are missing and they are needed...then we go searching for those libraries in net and get after a long time....
This is something I have been commenting on for quite some time now. Again, there's not too much you can do about it unless you want to contribute code yourself. This is, again, a well known problem. Such projects will fix it over time.
I know that a windows system is technically poor compared to Linux especially about virus attacks...but from a normal view point it's natural that people need an OS to be userfriendly in many aspects...if we speak of technical stuff in Linux,a normal user just ignores those things and opts for user friendly OS...(Windows) and on seeing thses things iam speaking..iam a 3rd year Engg student(IT) and am a fan of LINUX for which my friends use to make fun of me....i had enough trouble in configuring my Sis190 lan driver in fedora but being an IT engg it's a good thing but what about non-Computer professionals??
"Average" users will be more comfortable with Linux in a few years. I agree with you here. Just give the community time. Remember how much progress we have made over the last four years and think about what can happen during the next four.

Oh well, I'm going to try translating it anyway. Good practise for my language skills
I'll link to any translations I'm made aware of!

Incidentally, nobody seems to have mentioned it thus far, but the reason Mplayer & other media players come without all the libraries is often because of legal restrictions - DVD codecs cannot legally be supplied, for instance, and there are restrictions on the MP3 and windows-based codecs as well. It's not about ignoring the needs of end-users, it's about not being sued.

Heck, it's actually illegal for me to install the codecs to play my legally-bought-but-copy-protected DVDs on my legally-bought DVD player. It's crazy, but it's the law.

Please stop flaiming. Most the issues you brought up differ from distribution to distribution, in other word if you want say mp3 support either get a pay distribution or get mepis. Now im sick of you bringing up issue that are minor, or bringing up distribution pasific issues as if they apply to all distributions.

now with your third point....does a office package have to be fast? the answer is no. Its not much slower than other office packages anyway.

As for firefox i have some good advise yeas it memory and resource hog. So use either KDE knoqure or opera(yes becuase you use a open OS doesnt mean you have to use open source aplications).

Can I add the sis 900 ethernet card is not the best in the world and even has problems in other OS. I also agree with you in the package systems for distributing software, its an isseu that anoys me so i tend to stick with gentoo ports, apt-get or yum depending on the distribution. I hope autopackager gets off the ground

In my experience, firefox has out-performed opera. But I admit I haven't used opera for more than for a couple weeks.

Firefox uses more resources for example memory usage has aproched 500 meg for me before, its that the developers arnt interested in lowering memory usage even though applying compresion would not be an bad idea
