A day in the life of : A linux Newbie

    Hey folks,

Just joined and before I even managed to post my hello all post I have already sorted out two problems I had with my first install of Linux. Had no working sound, quick search of the forums sorted that out. Couldn't get my large collection of mp3's to play from my Windows drive, again the everflowing knowledge of the forums helped me out. So while this is a quick hello to all, it is also a thanks for all the people who take the time to help out us new guys.

Anyhows, 2 days since the install and I get the feeling I'm gonna like this!

    Toodles

Yeah, that's the way it is around here for the most part. Funny how Windows is supposed to have more support but... I have gotten more support and hand-holding using Linux...

What linux distro are you running?

man, people get more windows support in these forums than any windows forum lol.

anyhoo, welcome to the forum. it's good to see enthusiastic users joining
Here's why Linux is easier than Windows:
Package Managers! Apt-Get and Portage (among others) allow users to install programs MUCH easier than Windows can.
Hardware Drivers. In SuSE, ALL the hardware is detected and installed automatically! How is this harder than Windows' constant disc changing and rebooting?

Your a rareity most people start to complain when theres no inbox mp3 support. But you've took it well and read up, for that i have to say congrats and you'll be one of the users who tend to stick with linux
