    Setting Up a Linux Server

I have decided that i am going to try to set up my own linux server with a friend within the next few days. The problem comes from the fact that i am completely clueless on how to even begin (except for the intalling linux part, that i can do). Just wondering if anyone knew of any good online tutorials, that range anywhere from setting up a linux server to setting up a router accordingly.

I don't want people to go googling for me (I am about to start doing that), but if you happen to know a good sight, or even a good book that involves setting up a linux server, I would love to hear about it. Thanks.

This might help a bit. Now, read it all, and there's a very long and very hard exam afterwards. Linky

Fingal great link, thanks for posting it.

And Tommaso, what kind of server are you trying to setup?

Thanks for the link fingal. I forgot to check the RUTE linux tutorial. I stopped using it after i could not download the pdf anymore, and we used to have dialup, so accesing it for every problem used to be a pain. Does anyone know what happened to the pdf download?

Oh, and AlexK, thanls for reminding me, I probably should have said that i would like my server to be hosting a HTML website, not looking into a mail server yet. I am currently looking into apache. It looks a little complicated for me, but i am looking into their tutorials right now.

For file sharing servers, i am guessing Samba is the best idea there, but i will hold on that idea, so that i don't have to read the long Samaba tutorial. At least not just yet.
