A friend from college introduced me to it, I did some research and set up a dual boot, and here I am today Windows free (except in the classroom =|)

I've been using it going on 7 years now but still learning each and every day. Heard about it from online friends about 8 years ago.

I lived with two kids who had graduated college with computer science degrees and they used linux. I used to have a gateway laptop and it was great for about 6 months and then I was invaded with multiple viruses and trojan-spyware crap. I was also in my 2nd year of lawschool and was tired of reading, eating, drinking law so I wanted a new hobby not involving drugs-alcohol as that was basically the choice during my college years so I started with Fedora Core 4 and then quickly changed to SUSE and then even quicker to Gentoo. That was about a year ago and since then have learned basically everything from this forum, googling, and installing gentoo and configuring different things through trial and error.
All right, brain. You don't like me and I don't like you, but let's just do this and I can get back to killing you with beer. All New Users Read This!!! If you have a grub problem please look at GRUB MANUAL

Someday I hope to be able to say that.

I've been using linux for a month, I remember I heard of it a while ago but could never figure out what to download from the ftp site and how to burn the iso. Now I'm getting better with linux but I'm still such a newb. I HEARD about linux probably just from the internet, I just thought it was something hackers used...I had no clue lol.

When I got more involved in computers, I decided on a whim to pick up Red Hat 9 at CompUSA.

And that triggered my Linux usage for the past 2 years.

I learned about GNU/Linux from a friend who was into this sort of thing. I started using it in July 1999, and have used/tried out various distros since thn. I am now using CentOS 4.2 both at home and for the consulting work I am doing. More information on the various distros at:

My friend that I met on Bombshock, and who has helped me immensely in just about everything, told me about DSL. At the time I could've cared less, but after the 3rd Winblows crash I asked him for a little more info. At the same time my cousin was in town form TX, he is really into computers and stuff so I figured I would ask him. Turns out he knew a hell of alot about it and even made me a copy of KNOPPIX 3.4 and I tried it out. I liked it but wasn't really sure what the hell to do with it. After the 5th Winblows crash I tried it again, then came here and got more info. The rest is history.....
