This means that only multibillion corporations can have internet sites, just think of the high costs of paying every single broadband vendor in the world just to make your webpage available on the internet. It's insane!
The average Joe pays to be able to use things like google and yahoo, if they play smart and refuse to pay the broadband vendors, maybe we'll see all the average Joe's convert to vendors who don't use such filters -> uncle Scrooge's broadband vendors loosing money, the traditional ones gathering more money -> uncle Scrooge having the choice between loosing money and remove the filters again -> catastrophe stopped before it's too late.

Well, it just shows that none of us can take our individual freedom for granted. It's so easy to just sit there and think 'Everything's fine', but there are always forces at work pulling things the other way.
I've signed more petitions in the last couple of weeks than I have in the last 18 months! Makes you feel insecure, but I don't think the things in that article will happen because too much of the world's economy is built on having fast access to information. Basically, more people are doing business online, so if their overheads increase jobs will be lost, economies take a dive, and (my favourite part) politicians lose their jobs.

Thank You for the link, Fingal.
As an old man I have watched the way corruption and greed envelops both human beings and corporations and governments.
Look at what happened in Philadelphia. The city put in its own broadband service so that the people of the city could use its benefits. Hating this; the corporations and the state government passed laws to make sure no other city in Penn. did the same thing.
I do not think there is a dial-up Internet service in America that is not controlled in some way by Microsoft. Corruption has the money and the willpower to keep on shearing us public sheep in every way that they can. It is indeed a sorry state of affairs to have to admit to; and definitely not the way the founders of this country perceived its future.

Anything that has a section entitled "Our Digital Destiny" has my vote. I'm fully prepared to panic. Where do I go? Isn't there something we're supposed to do, like put a paper bag over our head, or something?

Can't blame them for trying, but hopefully it won't happen.
Now, if only I could find a way to charge people for the air they breath, or the sunshine they enjoy.
