My univ computers

I have already posted my machine names but I think it would be interesting to tell you how the computer science dept in our univ names its machines.

It depends from one lab to another so here it goes:

1. General Computing Lab: Workstations and servers are named after Classical Indian Musical Ragas (search wiki to know what a raga is). Examples desh, poorvi, malhar, durga, ahiri etc.....

2. Vision Lab: After famous drinks. Examples: champagne, bordeaux etc....

3. Microsoft Lab: CSIITD-(some random number). Guess where it comes from. Well windows does this (it names your machine after your organization by default). CS stands for Computer Science and IITD for Indian Institute of Technology Delhi

4. Professor's comps are named after them.

5. I don't know about other labs such as architecture lab, networking lab, systems lab, dhd lab etc.... but they have interesting names.

Its actually not a good practise to use spaces in these names (actually applies to all variables in general). It is also advisable to use lowercase letters. But anyways its always your choice.
