New uses for an old Palm (Sony Clie)?

Any ideas? I thought about using it like a tablet or input device for certain programs, but I have no idea where to start. Any other options? Or know how to make that work. I hate to see technology laying around without a purpose!

Does it have a colour screen?
Some of the last few pda/pocket pc/palm devices had vnc and remote desktop tools available for them.

My mate used to control his mp3 collection from the toilet on PocketPC over rdp protocol on a bluetooth connection. Beat that! There could be potential hacking value in it's current form!

Alas, it's a BW screen, no bluetooth but infrared. So I guess I could use it as a remote for my tv or stereo.

go the TV Remote... i have a palm 3 c that i use for that purpose (software was free too i think... there is a lot of stuff out there for them)

a lot of people complain about range, but i must wonder how big there lounge room is... i sit around 2-5 metres away from my tv, upto 7 at most i have tested it, and whilst it can take a few seconds, it works. (oh, my palm has the IR in the top, so its well placed for this)

its also great as a portable ebook reader... get a pdf view, sync it over

and you have a book with you.

the Table software is availible on Sourceforge, and you also need the wacom intuos driver (availible from wacom for free) but my plam 3c has only a doc for pc connection, so thats not good to me, as i would need to hold the palm on a flat surface (oh, and the colour ones didnt eve view images... they had a shocking colour capability / res until recently)

oh, taking notes on it sucks, oldschool palms never allowed you to right straight onto the screen and recognise it... you had to write in the "graffiti" area... in block letters... and odd symbols /taps/dashes to get all the different characters...

my personal fav though.... gets me several hours of lemmings gameplay when on the move
