only a year?
it seems like an eternity since i first posted here, unable to install SuSE 9.2 on my old machine. i then got a new machine and found out the install disc was corrupted

i finally got SuSE 9.3 and that's when my journey into linux really began... i still can't believe i only started one year ago. wow...Here's why Linux is easier than Windows:
Package Managers! Apt-Get and Portage (among others) allow users to install programs MUCH easier than Windows can.
Hardware Drivers. In SuSE, ALL the hardware is detected and installed automatically! How is this harder than Windows' constant disc changing and rebooting?

hmm.. same here apparently, although I haven't really been paying attention.
I don't post much anymore, I just log in and cruise around while doing homework or listening to music. Here's to one year.Registered Linux user #393103

Heh, I remember my first Linux experience: Red Hat 8, where OpenOffice.org didn't work, so I had no word processor. And no nVidia drivers! Gah. That was hell.
And that was what, maybe 2.5 years ago? And now, I can't imagine still running under Windows. I've adapted so well to Linux that I absolutely love it now.
Ah, how time flies.DISTRO=Arch

I've only been posting on here for the last six months or so, but I've been using Linux for much longer (since about '95). You dont know you're born these days, guys - video drivers, printer drivers, mouse support, USB, BIND 9... I had none of that when I first started, you know!
It's over 10 years since I did my first install (RedHat 5.5, I think, but it's been a long time, and I forget easy), it only seems longer when it's 3am and I still cant get some module or patch to compile and run properly. Luckily there aint that much of it these days.Linux user #126863 - see http://linuxcounter.net/

I started at the time of redhat 7.1, was it seawolf? But then, I was mostly using windows still. I started using linux the most when I got an old computer in my room, with fedora core 1 ready installed for me, at the time fc2 was released...

On the i386 platform I started out with ISC and SCO unix. Linux wasn't born yet. The first Linux I tried was RH6. I does my heart good to see so many young folks just starting out in IT taking to Linux. Cool!!!
