I would like to second that. Women are an important part of my life and essential to the world we live in. I wouldn't want to live without them: it would be pointless.
It's also National No-Smoking Day in the UK, so if you're trying to kick the killer weed, good luck!

I was just curious how many women are there out there that would be on a linux forum like this?
I do love women and there's a special one in particular that I simply adore. One thing I have learned though: women are like computers; You can't live with them, and you can't live without them.

Well, yes, but I think that HOWTO contained a lot of the reasons they choose not to. Frankly I find the notion of "getting more women into Linux" sort of silly apart from the fact that I hate to think they're feeling somehow excluded(which many are, I'm sure). There's some useful suggestions in the HOWTO but I'd argue they're simply decent common sense and needn't be tied to Linux.
Two of the most obvious things I've seen, one in the link and one not, are
1. Guys falling all over each other to talk to the few women that do hang out or post. Believe me, as a guy, there's primarily one reason behind that, and I don't need to spell it out.
2. In public guys, take a frickin' bath once and a while, for crying out loud! This seems so last century, but the very rare computer shows I go to now have more women, but still lots and lots of the classic male geek...with all the inherent smells...prowl the aisles looking to squeeze the last mile out of that bar of soap. Turn off women from wanting to be there? Hell, turns *me* off.
Happy Woman's Day, grrls...

Uh-oh...I sense a D&D vs kernel hackers flamewar a-comin'...

You see? Women are so much more evolved it's impossible to imagine the above with anything but men!
You should go to the computer shows I've been to recently, then. That cliche can be smelled two rows away.

Ok...I'm just gonna say thanks guys.
I have a lot more I could say about women in computers/linux but I'll hold my peace.
