    where can dissenters post hereabouts?

It's taken me nearly an hour to post 3 simple msgs including this one!

Basically it's a logged in - or not - problem.

I started on the general Forums page and used the top right 'log in' which bade me hello. I went to 'Knoppix' to reply but it said no chance, you need to log in before posting. I am logged in jeez. Anyway I played its game and used the different full page login shown - oh yeah it has a small space with my logged in details showing!. I reloaded 'Knoppix' and the top menubar showed 'Log out'. I went to reply and - guess what - it came up with a login page.

After a second go there, I could reply. What a rigmarole.

Then I wanted a new thread in 'Kernel', I went tehre - still 'Log out' shows in top menu - and moused 'new thread'. And what do you know, up came a login page again. This of course shows to the right my login name and time etc, but no, it wants more confirmation.

I get my new thread posted - I think - and then decide to ask wtf is going on so I go to 'Comments feedback suggestions'. Remember I still see 'log out' on the top menu. Mouse 'new thread' and............

don't you just love this place.

Strangely, after dancing about backpaging and reloading it seems I can post or reply in any Forum but 'Comments feedback' which still wants me to log in before posting, so my only thought is that it wants to register dissent but even if I play its login game - yet again fill in the 2 boxes - it won't let me.

What an almost fully wasted hour and it's whetted my appetite so after this I'm gnashing my lunch with greater fervour!

Jeez, is there some timeout involved? With keeping an eye on my cooker it took me 10 mins to write the above and when I mouse ' submit new thread' it gives me that stupid login/register page. So I had to abandon it and close mozilla.

Now I'm fed and reopened mozilla, cleared cache and came here. This time I moused 'new thread' before login so we'll see how it goes.

Hmm... not sure what's happening, but logins and posting are both working fine here. Let us know if it continues to give you problems.

tick that little "Remember Me" button and it shouldn't log you out. I find that when I don't tick that button while logging in, after ~15 mins of aimlessly surfing this site, I get logged out.

Well, alex and ozar, it's taken less time to post stuff this morning

My initial try saw me attempt a reply first and then log in but I got the log-in dance again. Only when I reloaded the Forum page did I see the 'Log out' on the menu. Even then I could only use the 'Quick reply'.

Next I found that changing to 'Comments feedback...' I could start a new thread. Also a min or two later, replying here came up straightaway.

I dunno, I allow cookies here and I don't think it's a time thing as today it took only 3 or 4 mins to settle and let me post, as opposed to friday and about ten times that.
