"Why you should use *nix"
I'm writing a webpage as an independent project so that people at my university can try Linux, BSD, etc. and enjoy it as much as I've been enjoying it since I started. What are your reccommendations for reasons I should have on the site?

OK, OK, I'll get the ball rollin'...

I'd have to say things like Yum and Apt-Get are really enticing to me lol. Just a few little keystrokes and volia! Program installed. Plus, using the CLI make me feel like a super h4xx0r. Also the variety of Desktop Environments from KDE and Gnome down to TWM ( i know twm is not really a desktop environment) and the huge software selection is very appealing. The lack of spyware, adware, malware etc are also inviting to the Windows user.

I've got these reasons so far:
1. Choice (Linux vs. BSD, Distros, Desktop Environments/Window Managers)
2. Security
3. Tech support (Forums such as these)
4. Ease of Use (Package Managers)
5. Stability
6. Price
7. "Know the developers"
8. Everything Window has (somewhat)
9. Multiple-Architecture Support
10. # Programs available (apt, freshmeat, sourceforge)
11. EfficiencyFlies of a particular kind, i.e. time-flies, are fond of an arrow.

what ever you do, go out of your way to not compare it to windows. linux is able to stand on its own merrit. i like linux because its customizable the security is substantial and i have all the applications i need to function. if you are a college student its perfect because its cheap readily available and all the major software you will need to complete a degree is in linux or can be obtained cheaply.

Agree with the stand on its own...
But something anyone who is used to using windows, and who may be a student with very limited time, is going to want to know is:
How much time will it take to learn?
If you could give them a clear idea on that.
