Nostalgic DOS Games
Because I'm mostly bored today, I thought I'd share a neat little site I found recently that has a bunch of very old (late 1980s to mid-1990s) computer games originally written for DOS and Windows 3.11. Why would I tell Linux users about this? Because thanks to emulators like DOSBox, these graphically-challenged but still fun to play games can have new life breathed in them on Linux, OS X, and even modern MS Windows (which cut off DOS support years ago).

Also, I recently found out that Bethesda Softworks (makers of Morrowind and my latest obsession, Oblivion) have released their first Elder Scrolls game, Arena, for free. That's no-cost not open-source, but it will probably still run in DOSBox and if it's from Bethesda it's probably still quite good.

i was getting read to start a new thread on this but my co-worker sent me this a 2-d quake. aside from the poor graphics its one of the more entertaining games i have played. the sounds are entertaining as well. every sound in the game sound like voice recordings.

Thanks - my weekend should be all the better for this. Good to see Beneath a Steel Sky which I enjoy playing ... even though I know how to solve every single puzzle!
The first DOS game I played which I loved to pieces was Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards.
I used to play Quake 1 a lot, but didn't really move on from that. Hexen and Heretic were the other faves.I am always doing that which I can not do, in order that I may learn how to do it. - Pablo Picasso
