It is possible, but it's not yet "officially" supported. The only caveat is getting Linux to work with the new EFI, which is a replacement for BIOS. I imagine it's just a matter of time before someone either hacks BootCamp to allow you to use it for Linux or comes up with another program all together that does the same thing.

i know everyone has there own opinions on the intel mac thingy, but for me, being able to run windows on mac kinda devalues the whole idea of buying a mac. i like that they were different and that ppc was exclusive to mac (and us) kinda ruins it for me to see that evil logo corrupting an otherwise good bit of kit. but hey, after that sasser worm, i became a bit biased.
You know, aliens are going to come to earth in 50 years and kill the hell out of us for DDoSing their networks with this SETI crap

Developers and gamers may like this. I'm actually thinking of buying one exclusively for Linux or FreeBSD. I like the looks, but not too keen on MacOS although I would rather use MacOS than Windows.

for me it would be a geek thing to beable to say hey i have a new intel mac and i have three seperate OS's on it. not much worth anything else. i wouldnt have the windows on there long enough but to say hey i did it. plus they had come to a speed barrier with the motorolla cpus i understand why they went to a intel cpu.

Personally, I can't see any point in buying an Intel-based Mac unless you require the hardware or the Operating System specifically. Why would you need to triboot 3 OS's (Even though I do admit it would be cool for 5 minutes).

You could buy a way cheaper PC on put Windows/Linux/*BSD on it. That way you could customise it to kingdom come. That would make sense. On second thought, the Core Duo's aren't that cheap, and would be hard to get.

But then, as they say, "The customer is always right". It's all up to the end user. Up to your choice.
This was not mean to be a rant or rave or a troll post

Exactly. I'd be interested in picking up an Intel-based PowerMac tower if they offered BootCamp with it (which is apparently going in as an official feature of the next version of OS X). The reason I'd like a tower is it would allow me to swap out components like video cards, and with a dual-boot Win/OS X Mac tower it would make a nice game machine AND development platform. XP for games, OS X for development.

For the sake of consolidation, I'm redirecting any and all conversation regarding Apple's Boot Camp software to this thread:
