    Tasty little amusement apps

In light of the fact tomorrow's Easter Sunday (which is in 15 mins away), I thought I'd post this.

I was just mucking around in my local portage tree, and I came across some interesting apps. The first was called "fortune". Some people would have heard of this app b4. It is a program that prints quotes based on the commandline options.
For example: "fortune -a" means print out a random quote from the installed database, including offensive ones. I got a laugh out of the output, I tell you . It's also great when you setup xscreensaver to use the fortune quotes.

The second app was called "wtf". It is an acronym finder (kind of). For example, if I put in "wtf imho", it will output 'imho: In My Humble Opinion'. Great for geek-speak noob's like me.

Do any other good ones exist that you know of?

Do games count? I installed SuperTux last night with CruxPorts4Slack and it is very addictive and amusing! My five year old daughter really enjoys watching as I play.

    Ok, games count.

Isn't Supertux the mario brothers-based game with tux? If it is, I play it myself ocassionally. It's a great time waster .

Late last year I had fun with x-snow and x-desktop-waves.

fortune is used in slackware when a user logs into a command prompt or when you are running in init 3 when a user logs in.

I'll have to try these the moment portage is finished syncing. Moving the portage tree takes too long.

I had such a lot of fun with x-snow last year - which is rather sad

He he ... I really struggled to think of a Linux 'toy' which I find amusing. I quite like fortune (my version has things like 'Goodbye and thanks for all the fish' included with it now). I sometimes use Xeyes, but I really want a 'desktop friend' app which doesn't annoy me. The Windows one I used was a bouncy sheep which - amongst other things - would get abducted by aliens, pee and chase a little friend around the screen ...

I badly want a *nix alternative!
