    summary, well, the first lines:
i still think that it sucks that the more games that come out that they refuse to create a linux port too. i would like to think there is a big enough gaming market that uses linux that would buy games that have ports to both platforms. i am seriously tired of windows. i do not want to keep putting up with the hassle, because of my gaming addiction, of having to install windows. i am sure there are alot of reasons why the majority of games are only on windows. i feel as much as they charge for games i buy i think they owe it to me

As an buyer you can (and do) affect the companies, eg, supporting those who make linux version, asking those who don't "when will you release a linux port?" - and, in short, they'll have to listen, or you have the choice of not buying their games - leading to them getting less money (ok, 1 person is nothing, but if many more do the same things will happen.)
Part of the reason why I bought the ut2004 DVDs (ECE has 2 DVDs) is that they support linux by shipping the linux binaries (32-bit but, there's 64-bit avalible too (which I use)), I'm thinking about buying ut2k7 too. (other part is also that for these kind of games I know that the cost of the game also ends up in the costs of running the official game servers (ie, someone makes sure threre's servers to play on, that some one fixes bugs, etc, etc))

btw, I remember some games used to be like 2 different games depending on if we used OpenGL or (D3D (or Software)), OGL beeing far superior in the lightning - SW and D3D used to be "shadowless".

I think that unless MS ports D3D to linux (something I think isn't ever going to happen, and I'm not sad about that, as you might have guessed, I'm not in favour of COM) I think most (major) companies will keep up with D3D and OGL. In a way I hope that a 3rd new approach or implementation (possibly a sane COM implementation, if there is a such which isn't an oxymoron) that proves far better than both OGL and D3D, and that everyone embrases that and live happily ever after - not that I seriously think that'll happen, but I can dream about it
