    If you look at the criteria on which he gives out penguins, you will be able to see why he gave it only one penguin.
    One of the main criteria he mentions is "offline usability".
    Gentoo fails miserably in this category.
    Another is newbie-friendliness, again Gentoo fails here.
    I can't remember the other criteria, but those are 2 where Gentoo won't get any penguins.

    btw, I really like Gentoo, but I also have broadband.
