Unhappy suse 10.1 supports i915 at 1680x1050 resoultion?

    hello every1

I am new to linux. I got dell inspiron 6000 notebook with i915 graphic chipset runs on 1680x1050 resolution. I already tired almost all linux distro but all of them failed to load linux in graphic mode on my notebook. I installed driver for i915, modified xorg.conf but still i wasnt able to get server x going. Though they all work fine in text mode.

Just wondering, if suse 10.1 fully supports i915 or do I have install driver, modify xorg.conf, get/install 915resolution tool and dunno wot else to get it working?

    Thanks

I have an Inspiron 8500, a slightly older chipset but it certainly supports the monitor. I believe it does support that intel chipset.
