I was so excited about this a few weeks back. I downloaded all 3 betas (but only installed 1 and 3). Problem is that in the last 10 days I’ve discovered Kubuntu and am totally hooked.

I can’t see any reason to leave as apt-get is probably the best package manager I’ve ever used and with over 18,000 packages in the ubuntu repositories (and that’s excluding some of the sources ones) the scope is massive

Having said that I hope SuSE does really well

i primarily use slackware at home. i want to test it out on my notebook. the wireless tools on most distros are pretty good but slackware is lacking in that area. After mepis 6 final comes out i plan on trying that as well on my notebook. on the subject of package managers i dont really get all that excited i dont have one available to me now so i dont really see it as missing out. I manage to get all i need though. since package managers are becoming so popular Patrick should start bundling one by the time 11 comes around. Along with making 2.6 the default kernel. i plan on only using slackware on my desktop machine because its pretty stable and i am happy with it. i do however want to use a more cutting edge distro on the notebooks my wife and I have.

ps. it looks as if www.slackware.com is down today for some reason.

By the way, how is Pat's health. He's still the head honcho of Slack so I assume he's got a lot better.

I look forward to the new release.
I have been trying to get xgl to work without success, and 10.1 is supposed to come with it preconfigured.

I'm looking forward to it to. Checking that site a lot to see if they wanna release it early
I have been using XGL in Kororaa. The new disc is sweet. The rain effect is great if a little unstable at the moment. Matrix is a bit.....well if it was three years ago it would be amazing, but it all seems a little late. Though Xwinwrap that it was demoing looks pretty good.

I'm not sure that XGL is preconfigured in Suse, but it will be easy to set up. There is still some configuration into prefered wm afaik.

A bit overloaded is an understatement. I am downloading now at a whopping 12.4 Kbps on a 4 Mbps link. Oh well, I should have all five CD's burned by this time tomorrow

My buddy is pulling down the torrents now at rocket speed now. I'm on my way home to get started. Thankfully Packman is ahead of the game and has most multimedia bit ready.
