Ok. It's official. I simply must get myself a copy of SuSE 10.1, just so I can offer something to oppose Clement Lefebvre, whose reviews always seem to end up on the front page of this site and with whom I rarely ever find myself agreeing.
All due respect to Clement, since distro opinions are just that, but I find myself once again obligated to offer a different viewpoint.Registered Linux user #270181

lol
I'd be like that too. Even with the hangover, the morning of my Wedding I'd be tweaking my server - "I'll be there in a minute darling"
Haha. Damn my girl is so gonna leave me.
Anyway, YOU is gone but there is a new ZEN updater and I believe the backend of software management is now zen-installer also. It works well - at least if I discount my slow downloads. Updateing Sources is slow too, I hope it was server load.
Something I forgot to mention is that beagle and the new network manager both have two interfaces, one for KDE and one for Gnome. I know a lot of people didn't like using Beagle because it didn't integrate that well with KDE. Well there is a KDE frontend for Beagle, and the network management sits very well in each of it's two incarnations. KDE is working well now with XGL, though no KDE config tool for it yet.
I have also seen a lot of options in gnome-configuratin-editor for XGL plugins and I'm seeing a lot of stuff that hasn't been decorated. Admittedly in the face all of my server admin days I am a total XGL fanboy. It really makes the desktop look fantastic. It feels far more organic than the static desktops I'm used to. Now if only I could get some actual work done and leave it alone...
