    yes the card will still boot without the power line connected to it.. pci has enough power to power it. maybe somewhere along the line the power line fell out.. i have a 6600gt and when i first plugged it in i forgot to connect a p4 line to the back of the card, and i got that same error u got. trust me. its not windows..

    you have the agp version, the pci-e version just uses the pci-e slot... as shown in the picture below

    Yeah sometimes i forgot to plug in power. This message come up. I take gun and shoot computer in face. Windows turn on screen and i scream. Must be a bad card, but that psu is lower power. I dont know what else you have but pci-e cards take a lot. If its not the power then oblivion fried your card!

    Gota say that totally sucks, maybe their was a power surge or something?
    Is memory and stuff still reporting the correct size? Was the fan caked in dust?

    its all reporting the right stuff, it just wont throw into its 3d clock speeds. The fan was acualy pretty clean, i was suprized.

    sounds like not enough power, chances are your power-supply is gonna die soon.

    i had an old **** ECS mobo, that chewed power-supplys up like they were going out of style, replaced the power supply 3 times before i finaly retired it.

    what you are going through is what i went through each time, until it comes on and the only thing working is the fans.

    worst of all, the last power supply was a 500watt bad ass, cost a bit-some, died in less then a week. such is life.
