    windows fried my graphics card...

    **NOT A TROLL, TRUE STORY**

Well last night i decided i wanted to play some oblivion, the windows installation takes about 30 minutes so i thought no big deal right? WRONG, i get all my drivers installed this morning, install oblivion, tweak all my settings, play for about 15 minutes and... my computer restarts itself, being windows, i didnt think 2ice about it, i thought it was just a normal, daily windows crash. But it wasnt, no it was much MUCH more.

when my computer is all ready to go, everything seems to be ready i get (and i cant run 3d/or overclock):

After SEVERAL hours I have gone through hours of googling, mobo bios changes, reinstallation of drivers (4 times), testing another PS, checking other components, and finaly testing 3d in linux. From this i am able to conclude, WINDOWS FRIED MY GRAPHICS CARD... What a joke, I'm gona have to get it replaced by evga, I havnt contacted them yet, probobly will tomarrow. What do you guys think?

If you know a12ctic, you will know he is a massive gamer, and that he has used that card for a while :/

also, if he hadn't connected the power, the graphics card wouldn't have started. simple as that. no way that it could be fried if there is NO electricity passing through it =/
Here's why Linux is easier than Windows:
Package Managers! Apt-Get and Portage (among others) allow users to install programs MUCH easier than Windows can.
Hardware Drivers. In SuSE, ALL the hardware is detected and installed automatically! How is this harder than Windows' constant disc changing and rebooting?

eh, its not a ps problem

(350 watts, 18a on the 12v) already went through all this. The problem is the clocks are incredibly slow due to "not enough power" the cards odviosly fried.

Thanks for the, umm, big picture. Anyway, I'm not sure why you're convinced Windows is the culprit here. First guess after power supply would be a bad card.

Nice big picture! Might be worth writing down how much power everything on your box consumes. Maybe you just don't have enough juice to run your card along with everything else?? PSUs are often the most neglected (sooooo unsexy) pieces of hardware in a box, but worth investing in.

A bit unlikely though I'll admit ... that PSU should be enough.

I think you might be cutting it pretty close with a 350W PS. I have 400W PS and I running most of my juice with nvidia 6800XT. Maybe the upgrade on your nvidia driver somehow told windows that you need a minimum wattage rating to be able to use your card. Just an idea. Try downgrading to the previous nvidia driver version you used and see if that does anything. Or try using a 400-450W PS from a antec or another reputable company.

It also might be your card but I would think that if it was fried you wouldn't get any error messages about PS just a broke card with no response.
