Smile I took the red pill....

Sorry for the cheesy Matrix reference, but I just wanted to celebrate my escape from M$. Hi everyone! Cutting my teeth on Xandros 3 (free version) and so far I am in love with it. Once I get Wine to work with my Macromedia Studio 8 and hopefully Adoble Illustrator CS, I will have no reason to ever go back to the dark side. Look forward to the great education on this forum!

Welcome and good luck. I haven't quite taken the red pill but I'm currently using SuSE 10.1 as my primary machine and also using CentOS 4.3 in a virtual machine on the same box. I'm trying to learn both OS' inside and out. I must say, I'm tempted to format my other machine and take the red pill for good.

i took the red pill and unlike many, i didn't pull a seifer
i'm currently fully linux dependant and without any windows software on my computers.
unfortunately i don't think the adobe software you want to run actually works under wine yet. it's worth a try and possibly discussing it on winehq.com.
    finally, welcome to the forums.
Here's why Linux is easier than Windows:
Package Managers! Apt-Get and Portage (among others) allow users to install programs MUCH easier than Windows can.
Hardware Drivers. In SuSE, ALL the hardware is detected and installed automatically! How is this harder than Windows' constant disc changing and rebooting?

Hey thanks everybody for the warm welcome, very appreciated. Yea you're right about Illustrator being an issue. Same with Macromedia Studio 8... almost got it working! So far I have done what all the other noobs that are serious about this have done (print out of CLI commands, bought a book on linux, taken a crap on their windows cd...errr... yea..), all that I really need to get a better grasp on is installing something from source since the instructions assume you already know alot LOL.

Thx everyone, rawkin like a hurricane!
