    Dual core for under £100!

    Hey everyone,

To all those people in the UK now, there is a sub £100 dual core processor!

    The Pentium D 2.66ghz 2x1mb Cache processor:P

I have seen people overclock each core to 4ghz, now THAT is value for money

Savastore, overclockers and a few other places have it

The only problem about overclocking to 4ghz is that you pay a premium for all of the other parts (ram, mobo, etc) even though the processor is cheap.

dont let it fool you, it does overclock to 4.1ghz ON WATER COOLING, on stock cooling it will only go to 3.1ghz, if you want a great deal look at the1.8ghz amd 64, itll do 2.7ghz on stock cooling (yes thats faster than the fx57) without a voltage bump and only a 1C change in temp.

Ah, fair enough, though the reason i thought the pentium d would be cool was cos it was dual core, but would it make that much difference when gaming?

dual cores atm arent really taken advantage of by games, and i dont think they ever will (Especialy if PPU's really take off). If your into gaming performance the amd 3000+(1.8ghz)/3200+(2.0ghz) vience cores are your best bet, theyre beasts, the lowest overclock anybody is getting with them is 2.5ghz and for 100$ you really cant go wrong heh

fair enough, I might go for that then

Either that or the 3400, not sure yet, tho the 3400 is a little more pricey

if ur an overclocker id just go with the 3200 or 3000, the 3400/3500 dont OC much further than the 3000/3200

Honestly even with good cooling overclocking can cut the life of a processor in half, plus in order to keep up with ur processor, you either need fast components or overclock those also which isnt good... Personally i found that overclocking didnt do much for me and saving a couple of seconds isnt that important to me

Anyway, the pentium 9xx series are awesome though, i really want to get one when theyre cheaper

I dont think i have seen the pentium d 2.66 Ghz here in Ohio
