This is not an open standard issue!
You're missing the point. This is an anti-trust issue. Apple and OpenOffice.org are not big enough to trigger anti-trust action. Microsoft is.
- 06-08-2006 #13it would realy be nice if you didnt turn this into a |capitalist vs. comunist vs. hippies| issue.it's called capitalism.. greed comes first
greed is a human trait. you will find greedy people everywhere, irrespective of race, religion or political ideology.
back on track then: i'm pretty sure apple is big enought to be pinned with an anti-trust suit, and so is sun microsystems. thing is they dont violate laws, regulations and standards like microsoft does, so there isnt a reason to be faced with this kind of law-suit. this sort of reminds me of what happened to spyglass. ms desperately needed a browser to compete with (actually to crush) netscape, so they bought up a browser created by spyglass, and then just renamed it to Internet Explorer. ms was then supposed to pay royalties to spyglass on the now freely distributed browser. but they didnt pay all they were supposed to. so spyglass sued ms and got a huge settlement.
