Test: No more ads for registered users...

    Hi,

Even though I know a lot of you already use Ad Blockers, we are testing something new, ads only for Guests but with different placement.
It was recently suggested to me to test this out, and I am, let's see how this performs. If it performs well, I guess there'll be no more ads for registered users on the forums

    Mark.

Well ... I can see the ads when I don't log in, and when I do they disappear. I think that's the plan?

I wasn't able to test this in Firefox (I use the Adblock extension which as far as I know can't be turned off, nor would I want to), but in Opera and MSIE I still see banner ads at the top and bottom of the screen both before and after logging in.

Both leaderboards, top and bottom has been completely removed, the skycrapper on the right as well, for both logged in and not logged in users.
The only ad that is there is the ad guests will see which is within the first post of a thread. Logged in users do not see that.

    Yes, that's the plan.

Those ads are within the design, and are there only to encourage writers to write for Linux Forums, and are loaded from the same server. All other google ads have been removed.

awesome idea corewizard. Thanks for you consideration. But of course if you ever need to reinstate the ads in the future for economic reasons we would understand.
All right, brain. You don't like me and I don't like you, but let's just do this and I can get back to killing you with beer. All New Users Read This!!! If you have a grub problem please look at GRUB MANUAL

All tested here, seems to work. But I can put my hand up and say I'm an AdBlocker too, pretty much for everything. At this rate of blocking objects I'm surprised I haven't just switched to lynx.
