GParted LiveCD 0.2.5-1 A Must Have Disc!
I just did a small review on GParted LiveCD 0.2.5-1. What this utility disc does is allow you to partition your hard drive and create a Linux Partition and a Linux Swap drive before one even attempts to install Linux. This disc is great and I have used it and a must have for all new Linux users.
The disc will allow you to resize a current NTFS partition to give you room to install Linux. If anyone has ever used PartitionMagic (tm) you'll love this disc...
The review is at ReviewLinux.Com and I would be more than happy to post it in the review section of LinuxForums.
Thanks for a great forum!

I downloaded it today and have been very pleased with every version since it came out. Gparted live CD is a must have for anyone who tinkers with computers for fun or professionally.
This may sound crazy, but I wish they would include the Slackware installer! I think it'd be really cool to install Gparted to hard drive and use it and its 2.6.16 kernel as the basis from which to build a highly customized version of Slackware from the ground up.

It might be worth mentioning here that the fellow (Patrick Verner) who started the Gparted LiveCD has now moved on to another project, Parted Magic LiveCD:

How convenient! i went through hell installing Gentoo because it screwed up my partitions, if i didn't have to format one i think it would have worked out well.. also went through some trouble with the graphical install of Kubuntu Edgy Eft, i had to download the alternate CD... i think this live CD you speak of will help me again in the future...
Thanks

I think it would be cool to install on a ****** little P2 or something that you use to partition and clone disks.
- 01-23-2007 #9I have a laptop but I don't always have my CD's or USB stick(s) handy and would like to keep a copy on the hard drive, just incase. it has saved my a** more times than I can count

Yea, I've been using GParted for quite some time now, and it's been a lifesaver countless times. A definite must. I'll have to upgrade...
