My sig was edited by a moderator?

That's right, without informing me as well. My sig was in proper English and the edited sig is not, so to speak, it contains a grammatical error while the erased sig did not. Another moderator even told me that it was in fact in English and implied that I shouldn't worry about this. I was contacted by the other moderator by private message and I replied that the signature was in English, actually a quote from Beowulf, which was written in English.

    A little heavy handed?

Here it is, a quote from the earliest extant English poem.

    Hwæt! We Gardena in geardagum,
    þeodcyninga, þrym gefrunon,
    hu ða æþelingas ellen fremedon.
    Oft Scyld Scefing sceaþena þreatum,
    Operating System: GNU Emacs

    Rather amusing.

PS: Why did you choose Beowulf? Do you study literature? I have it in my private library and I hated reading it.

Well, as we've already discussed this you know it wasn't me. I wouldn't take it too personally. We have some new mods.

Don't look at me... I've only edited one signature (because it was in HUGE text) but the user was notified immediately.

    lol, this is getting silly.
Here's why Linux is easier than Windows:
Package Managers! Apt-Get and Portage (among others) allow users to install programs MUCH easier than Windows can.
Hardware Drivers. In SuSE, ALL the hardware is detected and installed automatically! How is this harder than Windows' constant disc changing and rebooting?

Agreed. I didn't mind a little clever interpretation of the rules as long as it didn't cause a stir. Since this one obviously has, I've amended the rules and I'd like to request that the original poster please change his signature so we can all get this silly business behind us.

With all due respect to genesus (because of his active contribution to the forum and that he has helped guys like me a lot) I still tend to agree with d38dm8nw81k1ng. Its pointless to discuss this thing anymore. The sig is intersting, if u understand it (I managed to do so with the help of my g.f) and also know German (in that case u might see how English evolved). But as u can see the concrened mod decided that the rules have to be followed and should be common for everyone. If anyone on the forum still feels that the rules can/should be changed then a seprate thread in suggestion section can be started.

It appears to me that this matter has been pretty well covered, so I'm locking the thread unless someone provides a good reason for reopening it.

    Thread locked...
