You might want to have a look at sourceforge.net, it hosts the majority of open source projects for all platforms. Just do a search on the front page.

I use AVG Free Edition for Virus and ZoneAlarm for firewall - both are free but I don't believe either are OSS. If you find any good OSS ones post them - I would love to give them a go.

I observed that Zone Alarm slowed down my "net speed" a lot. Since my anti-virus is quite good (Trend Micro, provided my university under a license from the company) I chose to trust the SP2 firewall and it has not cause me any trouble till now. I just make sure that I update it regularly.

    1) Get the one from http://www.burn4free.com/ Though it has a toolbar, install it on a browser you don't use frequently like IE and use the other browser Firefox...

    2) http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/lng/us/tpl/v5

I also have TempCleaner from http://www.ipaw.net/

    3) ZoneAlarm

I also use OOo office suite http://www.openoffice.org/

Cool site, carlosponti, Celestia and Stellarium look awesome!

Also, I wanted to mention that I've heard bad things about the windows firewall. I use Zonealarm myself, though I also have a hardware firewall (my SMC router). For me, the worst part about the XP firewall was the lack of advanced configuration options.
