Spreading Linux - a new website I wrote
Hello everyone !
I just wrote a new website to spread linux somehow. I was disapointed by the linux.org and linux.com websites, which are quite unatractive for complete beginners (people who don't have a clue about Linux). So I wrote my own.
Includes:
- Linux explained to human beings in understandable language
- Why you should not use Windows and proprietary software
- Tips, information for switching and links to user-friendly distributions
All of this in a clear and simple format and no ads.
It was quite an amount of work to write this up. What do you think ? Do you have comments ? Would your mom or non-techies friends be able to understand it ?
I'd like to know !
I hope you'll be interested. The website is getgnulinux.org
Cheers !
Olivier.

Personally, I like your site. It's easy to navigate, simple and informative. I did find a slight rendering problem on one page using Explorer (which I'm sometimes forced to use).
On your FAQs page, be careful about using italics on large blocks of text. I think they make the text harder to read.
Apart from that, sites like this are imho very good.
Edit: Good to see a legal disclaimer and an 'About us' section as well. I think it helps to make the site look more professional as well as protecting your interests.I am always doing that which I can not do, in order that I may learn how to do it. - Pablo Picasso

I like it!
Only on suggestion... I think it would be a good idea to include more details. Like in the "Why not Windows" section, regular people don't really understand the difference between 'licensed' and 'sold', to most it means the same thing. Explain the difference between one and the other. The same applies to some other parts of the site.
Also, don't forget, not all GNU/Linux distros are free (as in freedom), ie: Linspire, Xandros, etc. I think it's important to note that.

A very nice web site. Unless you have objections (and your post seems to indicate that you do not), I am going to put this site on my list of sites that I give out to people who are interested in using GNU/Linux. I will also put it on my own web site as a helpful site for people thinking about using GNU/Linux.

Excellent site. I like the professional look it has. But there is atleast one caps error I saw. Make that 'h' capital on line 3 after Dubious in Why not Windows section. Apart from that excellent.

I like the site, it really looks polished and well thought out. The only criticism I would have is that a lot of people here at the forum when explaining answers to problems need to specify that linux is [i[not[/i] windows. I would strongly push that it is an alternative, but it is not just a free windows clone.
On the whole it is quite pleasing to the eye, congratulations on some fine work.
