A.....monopoly(and I don't mean the board game) is able to take advantage of people if there is no competition(aka Microsoft) and also allows this "monopoly" to give you poor service, support and quality(aka Microsoft) due to the fact that there is no alternative. This campaign encourages the use of fair competition that would also allow people to have better service and quality through the struggle to compete. What kind of moron(except for the monopoly) would object to this kind of thing? It's like your asking to get screwed over.

Good for you Tainted_Girl ... In general Linux people are against monopolies, and I would support this but I don't live in the USA.

lol. I was gonna at least give him a chance :P
I dunno though - I've never looked into utilities or maybe resources with a fixed value. Like petroleum. OPEC is a cartel - which is a "shared monopoly" (no competition) - and they seem to be doing a pretty good job. I wouldn't like to see competition in an area like that. It would lead to more usage and lower prices.
(No I'm not being sarcastic - I truly believe high gas prices are a good thing... get a hybrid!)10" Sony Vaio SRX99P 850MHz P3-M 256MB RAM 20GB HD : ArchLinux
