Now that it has the resources of AMD behind, ATI Technologies is confident that it will be able to produce more compact, faster GPUs while being to reach the channel more effectively, and the graphics chip maker has indicated its rival is now standing alone in the market. However, industry sources have indicated that Nvidia will soon announce that it will allow support of its SLI technology on Intel's chipset platforms, with the two companies already having met to discuss the partnership.

Nvidia to soon provide SLI support to Intel
Now that it has the resources of AMD behind, ATI Technologies is confident that it will be able to produce more compact, faster GPUs while being to reach the channel more effectively, and the graphics chip maker has indicated its rival is now standing alone in the market.
However, industry sources have indicated that Nvidia will soon announce that it will allow support of its SLI technology on Intel's chipset platforms, with the two companies already having met to discuss the partnership.
Intel met with Nvidia recently to seek ways to avoid any negative impact sprouting from the recent merger between AMD and ATI , the sources indicated.

Yes 2007+ is going to be a *really* interesting year.

it seems that computer companies are realy starting to form alliances. dell for a long time only used intels. microsoft looks like they are quite friendly with ati, being as they used them to provide graphics support for the 360, because of nvidias sly contract work. this amd-ati and nvidia-intel crap is extending this. all vidio games for the pc these days have some sort of gpu company backing them. ut2004, doom3, and quake4 have nvidia. HL and suprisingly prey(well, not so suprosingly seeing as its only for windows) is using ati. HL is obvoiusly supported by ati seeing as the entire engine was basicly made by ati, and its the only major engine for windows only. nvidia, sony, toshiba, and ibm is making the ps3, but ibm makes the chip for the 360 and wii, but doesnt realy talk much about that since they are mostly concerned about the ps3's cell.
its going to make for a realy interesting next few years, as users are being pulled and shaped to fit in these new partnerships, some of us will find ourselfes unhappy with the outcome. i personaly am pro nvidia, amd, hp, ibm, and linux and anti ati, intel, dell, apple, and windows. i may find myeself having to change my mind about some of thiese companies if i want to keep on computing.
but i hope it doesnt get so extreame. this will most likely turn out to just decrease prices and open pattent and copyright walls that are currently clogging the system. hopefully they will try to kill off eccess parallel software and standards(like sli and crossfire or gnome and kde, wtf?)nVidia G-Force 6600GT (bfg) pci-e: amd 64 2000+ (939): 1024 corsair ram: 2X 80gb seagate harddisk SATA: plextor cd/dvd-read/write cdrom SATA

To be honest, all I care about (company wise) are the Processor and GPU companies (AMD, NVIDIA, Intel etc.), and MS. I don't care about Apple.
I think our opinions will change by this time next year. That part appears obvious.
