Linuxforums conference?

Crazy idea...

What if we all decide to meet anywhere in the USA or Europe? I know that there are people here that live at Oklahoma and Texas but what would be a good place to meet hypothetically speaking? I know for sure that there are a bunch of people in England that could meet easily but here in the USA?

lets have it either in the north or south pole. that way we will all more or less travel the same distance

i think linuxforums is already very multinational, and might be difficult to get everyone who wants to go to get there. i know i would want to go!

Chicago or Madison. I live about an hour or so away from both. Or we could meet in Gary, Indiana America's little slice of hell. I don't live there but it's the worst place I've ever been in my life.

Now you're talking! How about Birmingham here in the UK? I'll give you some reasons:

- Birmingham is huge: there are loads of places to go out and it's the UK's second largest city;
- it's cheaper to stay in Birmingham than London;
- there's an international airport next to the city for easy access;
- if you get tired of Birmingham, it's centrally located so it's easy to escape from to explore almost anywhere;
- I could put one of you up for a few days, or recommend (even book) a good hotel;
- the beer is cheaper in B'ham, and I know most of the decent pubs and bars;
- the people are reasonably friendly ...

For me, Birmingham is certainly not a fantasy location.

As we have a fair few members from around the midlands here in the UK, (i.e. you, me and Peter Griffin!) then a _real_ conference venue should be somewhere just off one of the motorways round here. The NEC is probably a bit big for 3 of us... Somewhere in Tamworth off the M42 might be cool - we could do it at the M42 motorway services (I can see it now - 3 coffee's and 3 of those donuts please)

For a fantasy venue, I'd prefer somewhere where we could get a proper suntan and really relax... How about Hawaii? Or Barbados?
