Well, I wish that I could completely switch; however, it will most likely never come to pass. At home, Linux is my primary OS with the exception of needing a Windows machine to VPN to my work.

Once I figure out how to reliably establish a PPTP VPN connection using either SuSE or Ubuntu then I can drop Windows entirely at home. I much prefer Linux now, but will admit, was a steep and rewarding learning curve for me.

above a certain kernel level i think 2.6.16 i think pptp stuff is prebuilt into the kernel. i need to try working on it again too now that i have OpenSuse 10.1 installed at home but i forget what kernel i have. there is a website that has tutorials on how to set it up under Suse Fedora and one other. since i use slackware also i hadnt been able to experiment on making it work from the web site.

    Well. I can't leave Windows.

I think with GNU/Linux i won't can live, because most apps are free and open source, and i won't have the same luck as Miguel (de Icaza), Linus or Nat.

For this reason I'm still using Windows.

well, i became extremely anti-windows and anti-ms at some point. i'd already been using openoffice and the fox. one day i got a suse 9.2 DVD and i was a convert. i went on to suse 9.3 and linux became my full-time OS. i managed to get my brother off windows by using cedega to run warcraft III. i erased windows 2000 and tried debian. didn't like it so i eventually put gentoo on that spare 40GB and i'm still using it. i then got a laptop and windows was off within 2 weeks (once i was sure SuSE 9.3 worked properly on it). the actual time from first installing linux to using it as my full-time OS was about a month. it's like i was born to use linux
Here's why Linux is easier than Windows:
Package Managers! Apt-Get and Portage (among others) allow users to install programs MUCH easier than Windows can.
Hardware Drivers. In SuSE, ALL the hardware is detected and installed automatically! How is this harder than Windows' constant disc changing and rebooting?

It took me about a month I guess. Once I got the wireless card setup and got comfortable with package managers windows was gone. The greatest thing is, I've never had linux cause a crash. I've had linux programs crash and cause issues, but most of that was caused by a KDE program running on a GNOME enviroment.

I will never miss the BSOD.

I love Age of Empires and first of all why do I need to migrate from Windows....why can't I use them simulatenously? Enjoy what both OS are best at.

It took me a long time to switch to Linux full-time, 6 Mo X 10 is more like it. Considering I started using Linux with Redhat 5.2 and dual booted all the way through FC5.
I think the final straw for me was the release of MS WinXP.
Bloated, overblown and underworked fine mess it was, Thank you Bill Gates and Co.
I had a hard time letting go of Windows mostly because Multi-Media and hardware support was scarce in Linux. But I still play my games, Railroad Tycoon gold (Linux Version), Chess, and online games.
