My new blog. It's probably not as good as I think it is.

I use wine for three things....pokerstar.net, Stata 10 and dvdshrink (I use acidrip often but I like the way that dvd shrink works a bit more....not directly to avi so it's less taxing on my system, plus I get dvd menus' which I like)....other than that I use XP VM for netflix only (crossing my fingers that the new version of view instant gets some developers to get it working on Linux....I've heard good rumors). Pokerstar I doubt will ever make a linux version which is too bad...I use it for Stata only because the version of Stata I bought I got before I switched completely to Linux so...I'm stuck with it (it's expensive)...in the process of switching over to R, hopefully can get rid of stata in a few months

games are the main reason for me and being able to run certain cool windows only programs..Microsoft isn't evil, they just make really crappy operating systems.

I quit using Windows. I only forgot that I was removing my last install for that licence when I deleted it's partition. I don't feel like purchasing a new licence because I simply haven't got the money.
My calculator has some functions for interacting with a PC which I have to run for math. The only problem is that the developers didn't think about Linux when they designed the drivers, so it's working a little buggy, but with some hacking every time I connect I can get it to work (takes me twice as long as normal). I also use Photofiltre. It's a nice program for foto editing. It's not really an advnced application, such as GIMP, but this works fine for me.
I also have a Windows IDE for developing windows applications (I just use gedit and g++ for linux). Now I can write and compile applications for my friends and they can actually run it. I've got a lot to learn though but every day I learn more and more, and eventually I will make a living out of it (I hope, and if it doesn't work out I can go for climbing instructor or a schools system manager).

Rarely do I use it, but it's convenient for running Steam, and such things. Usually I just get the Linux client for the game in question.
