Well, the first half of my faith's holy book (the Bible) does actually have an awful lot of goat slaughtering, and cow slaughtering... and people slaughtering for that matter. But I don't mean to start a religious conversation.

As a student I remember getting over enthusiastic and saying, 'Yeah! Let's go to the top of the hill [not named for reasons of privacy] and hold a vegetarian pagan sacrifice!!' This was of course a joke, and I say things like that all the time. However, it meant that some of the people I was doing group work with decided to avoid me from then on ...

I tried that line some months later with a hall mate, and he said, 'Yeah! I'm up for that! Just say the word and I'll help you out.' We became very good friends. Funny how some people get things ... other's just take you literally and don't understand.

I certainly like the moon ... But then I read a lot of ghost stories when I was 12.

so in other words, you're agreeing with me?

I'm open to the possibility. I don't know enough to say definitively that X11 is the reason. It could be a combination of X11 and something peculiar to GIMP.

Just a thought, have you looked into Xara Xtreme? They've not only ported it to linux but also made it open source. It's a great program, though as far as I know, it's more a vector drawing program. I saw it in action on a Kubuntu laptop yesterday and it's VERY fast.

Photoshop takes forever to load too.

Their OS X version isn't in a usable state yet, but thanks for the heads up. I'll keep an eye on it.
