im installing gentoo linux for tree hours now emerging media /libs/xine -lib blah blah im waiting ten minutes for this now is tha normal????????...

    how long will gentoo linux install

    im installing gentoo linux for tree hours now

    emerging media /libs/xine -lib blah blah
    im waiting ten minutes for this now

    is tha normal????????

    It's not to late to go back!! Save yourself and return to Slackware!!



    Seriously, yes. Gentoo takes a while to compile. Depending on your connection, it can take anywhere from several hours to a few days.

    A stage three installation can be done in one to a few hours (depending on the system power). If you go for a stage one or stage two isntall, prepare for an install-procedure that will last several days.

    stage 3 doesnt work...i dont know why
    i have choosed stage3+GPR or something like that
    unfortunatly media /libs/xine -lib blah blah is broken so im installing gentoo again

    If you don't get Gentoo the way you want it, you might want to have a look at Crux. You start with a minimal install from a single cd then build and configure the system from there. Crux packages also compile from source. It's the fastest distro I've ever run.
