Poll: How many distros have you checked out personaly?
Poll: How many distros have you checked out?
I'm just curious since some of the distros people on these forums are using areaccording to some of my univeristy computer-science and non-CS colleagues who have tryed a whole slew and, for many, independently come to their conclusions. Perhaps this is because people get involved in a distro and it works for them and they don't try anything else (and therefore have no grounds for distro comparison or selection)?JUNK
FYI: I've checked out only Knoppix and am currently running WinME. lol
Waiting till I get a second HD.

Im not sure you can call any other distro junk when you are running the king of junk, WinME. Thats beats any bad Linux distro, IMO.
I have tried Red Hat 9 and am currently using Mandrake 9.2. I did try Knoppix but couldnt get the mouse to work and had it running about 5 minutes, so that didnt count.

I know just pisses me when people just take what people say and then use it without putting anykind of testing/thought/trying in it them selfs to make up there own opinion, As ive always said Distro's are like food some people like seafood some dont same with distros if his friends where into the linux community I guess they should have noticed this. It doesnt take to much obsivation of the posts on this forum to make this conclusion IMO, Sorry for the off topic rant.

I agree with you Giro. But the fact is also that the mainstream distro's are not that good as they tell you.
For example:
Redhat or SuSE both with alot of crap on the disks. The most of the people don't use it. I'm using now Trustix because it's one of the smallest distro's. Works well as Firewall.
Xandros is very nice to see. Works great.Computers Are Like Air Conditioners... They\'re both useless with Windows open!
