A belated birthday present...
This past Friday I was able to get satellite broadband installed at my house, so I now have something better than dialup (and a wireless network that lets me connect to it in any room). I'm only paying for the basic service (512kbps) so I won't exactly be burning up the ISO scene, but my download speeds hover around 40-60KB/s which is roughly 10 times what I was getting on dialup. It's nice to be able to load a page and not have to go make a sandwich while all the images are getting downloaded.

Maybe Ubuntu will finally get that fair review

Great news, good stuff. If only I had something to keep me off the internet...
- 09-18-2006 #5Haha. I actually installed a fresh VM instance of Dapper Drake last night and got it all updated and configured to my liking. With a decent internet connection it's a pretty solid distribution.

I love my university
Now I get a feel of the campus LAN. 70-100 kbps is rocking, and I don't have to pay any money

When I went from 2Mb/s to 3Mb/s I celebrated by pulling down all of Sid, Mandriva 2006 and FC4. I did 13GB in 11 hours, over half my monthly allowance at the time. Those were the days.
I'd try surfing a little but I've already read the whole internet.
