well, from what i gather Lenovo notbooks and the IBM ThinkPad line are pretty much the same thing.
if i'm not mistaken, ibm and lenovo merged (or ibm bought lenovo up) and ibm notebooks are now released under the lenovo brand.
i personaly like ibm laptops. they are robustly built and looks good too.
one draw-back is usualy the price, so keep your options open

Yes, we use them and find them to be pretty reliable. As for their models, not all of them are of the ThinkPad line. They also market another line that is different from the traditional ThinkPad.

Funny you should ask.
I just joined linuxforums today. I am posting from a brand new Lenovo 3000 V100. First thing I did was wipe the hard drive clean (I hate the software that comes pre-installed on computers these days, 10-20 desktop icons offering AOL, Earthlink, Crapware, etc.). Then installed a slim XP on the first 20 GB partition, then ubuntu 6.0.6 on the next 10 GB partition. Posting this from the couch on my new, light laptop, running a great distro.
The V100 is very nice. They have a rebate running until the end of September, I believe. $300 off. The laptop is only about 4 lbs, small and light, which is what I was looking for. I already have a beastly tower machine that can do all my scientific apps, I just need something I can relax on the couch with and snuggle up next to.
I was worried at first, after reading online reviews, but I had already made the plunge. It didn't matter! This thing is great! For ~$800 it really can't be beat. It sure is better than the Dell's out there right now.
The IBM Thinkpad's are top-notch however. They really are the best. I know it sounds silly to brag about, but the keyboard is legendary. I would have sprung for the ultra-portable X60s Thinkpad, but it was around $2200 which I cannot afford. I am glad I didn't spring for it actually. I only paid $800 and got everything I need on this handy little machine. I'm mainly going to use it to remote connect to other machines, write code, and browse the web/email.

For the money I spent on my HP a532x I could have bought a Cyberpower for the same amount of money.
What I need to do is to hit a 4 number daily lottery in New York straight for $5,000.00 and buy myself an Alienware desktop to last me the rest of my life.
