    Cool Running windows on linux

    Hi everyone!

I know how to run CLEAN installation (of Windows) using "VMWARE" (or similar), also how to run MS Office with "Cross Office" but, It would be nice if we can run our existing Windows installation from linux (I mean, in case you have dual boot WINDOWS-LINUX at the same computer). Now that writing on NTFS is possible (and safe), what is missing?

If you know of some software that can do it, let me know.

    Thank you.

Never tried it, but Xen ver. 3.0 might do this. Check out the Wiki.

I posted a query to the qemu forum a while back asking whether that could use an existing Windows partition - they claimed it could though i never had chance to test it.

I think Xen only works with *nix, but that's only from what I've heard.

I way I understand the question, he (assuming it's a he!) wants to run Windows from inside Linux. I've seen screenshots of this from time to time and believe it's quite possible and pretty fast.* I don't see why this is practical to do: I like to run just one OS.

A link for you with a few screenshots. It *must* be Xen 3.* OR > to do this. Enjoy

    * Apparently not very fast <frowns>

Maybe I didn't explain myself correctly. (excuse my english)

I use Linux most of the time. I have also installed WindowsXP where I have some games like BattleField that I can't play on Linux. Also, sometimes MS Office (with cross office) crash on Linux and because of my Master Degree I need to do it on Windows because I already lost some important files in that way. In that case, OpenOffice is not an option for me and sometimes I need to use skype (with camera, that I haven't figured out yet how to make it work on Linux), or other devices I need to use that don't run on linux (at least, not yet).

One option is to install VMWARE or similar to run Windows inside Linux, but I think I would not be able to play games there, and I don't want to have 2 copies of WindowsXP on my machine (I don't like Windows that much).

So, I was wondering if there is any way I can run my already installed Windows so I can use it with out switching and maybe just switch when I want to play.

I hope it is clear now.

    Thank you!

(By the way... yes I'm "HE")
