I think we had a poll just within the last few months. But I'll bite.

I use vim and nano. I haven't tried emacs, so maybe over the holiday break this year I'll see if I prefer that.

    Red face

    This again?

VI but I respect and have no problems with EMACS users. I just find VI to fit my needs and I am comfortable with it.

I'm a Vim addict, and the only reason I have a problem with Emacs is because everyone in computer science at my college uses it and acts like it's the best and only editor out there. Much like how they view Java: To my fellow comp sci students, Java is the best and only programming language ever made.

This has been overly discussed here (and a number of other places):

    hm... lets see...neither of them.
when in X i use Nedit, and at the command line interface i use mcedit.

however, i just bought myself a book on vi because it is a standard editor and guaranteed to be found on any *nix platform.

I have the answer! I love the open source world: think of something crazy, bang it into Google and someone else has already thought of it. Introducing Vimacs ...

In the interest of simplicity, can we just stick to one Vi vs Emacs thread?
